A big well done to Daine who has been working incredibly hard with all her training and this week has completed her Care Certificate!
Well done from everyone at Head Office :)
Please join us in welcoming Karen to the Compassionate Care Team. Karen has lots of experience and will soon be out an about meeting everybody.
To help you get to know her a little here are some interesting things Karen wanted to share about herself:
"I enjoy any type of crafting in my spare time, I love holidays in far away places (my favourite was Sri-Lanka and I have a big family! I have 7 grandchildren and another on the way!"
Welcome to Fay who has literally just joined us and is starting on induction soon.
Here are some interesting things about Fay: “I show dogs professionally and I’m a regular at Crufts! I love walking my dogs on mountain walks and my favourite food is curry”
- a very warm welcome to the team
This is amazing! We have tallied up the training completed in January and we could not be prouder. *Drum Roll*…… altogether 156 units were signed off and completed by our amazing team!
7 staff started their Care Certificate, 2 completed their Care Certificate (and have a box of chocolates waiting for them) and some are close to finishing their NVQ's!
A huge well done to everyone!!!!
As we move forwards into a new week we wanted to pause for minute to say thank you to our fabulous team and Service Users for your patience over the past week.
We are currently moving over from paper based records to a fully digital system.
We have sent out letters to all our valued clients and staff are starting to get comfortable with the new system.
The new system will:
Reduce paperwork time and increase 1:1 interaction
Reduce the risk of tasks being missed
Produce digitally accurate records of when staff have attended
Allow real time response to changing need and risk
+ much more
As with any big change, it has not been easy and by no means has it been stress free but we are happy with the first weeks 'trial' and we are so proud of our staff for adapting and sharing their feedback.
Naomi is going to be out and about next week testing the system and we are keen to hear everyone's feedback.
We wanted to take a minute to say goodbye to Ellie (in the left in the pic) who is venturing forwards to a new adventure!
Ellie has been a long standing, hardworking and valued member of the team and we wish her all the best with her new career!
We know lots of our Service Users will miss her and we certainly will!
It's been another busy week at Compassionate Care - hence the late update this week!
We have linked up with Nottingham College to provide valuable work experience to students on the Level 3 Health & Social Care Diploma.
We would like to introduce our staff and Service Users to Amelia, our new work experience student. Amelia is hoping to study Midwifery at University next year and is looking forward to getting to know everyone & learning from our skilled staff.
Amelia will be spending the next 8 weeks with us to learn as much as she can.
Please pop in and say hello & we know everyone will make her feel welcome! :)
Have you seen our new 'Meet the Team' page?
We have built this page to help everyone put faces to a name.
Now when you get your weekly rota you will be able to check the page to see who is coming to see you!
As we cover such a large area, many of our staff haven't met as they cover different parts of Nottinghamshire. This new page will also help them put a face to other staff they may speak to on the phone.
Keep checking back for more pictures as we catch our camera shy staff over the next month!
It took a a while to build but our new leaflet stand is ready & Filled with lots of helpful information.
Feel free to drop in anytime & grab some!
Kicking 2019 off with a bang we have launched 5 new training modules to the training zone.

We hope that you all had a fabulous Christmas & that you are looking forward to the year ahead.

Would you like to play a part in our recruitment process? Do you have particular skills that may be helpful?
Perhaps you would like to submit some questions for us to add to our application or interview forms?
Maybe you would like to be on the interview panel?
Or maybe you have your own idea.
We are excited to hear from anyone that uses our Service - or is a close friend or family member.
Call Jasmyne on 01777711129 to get the ball rolling!

Age UK is a fantastic charity and they provide a lot of support locally here in Bassetlaw.
A simple hello, a smile or caring touch may seem small, but to some, it could just what they need.
It's been a busy December so far and we hope you are all prepared for Christmas and keeping warm!
This month we have been focusing on 4 training modules for all staff. It is so important to constantly refresh skills and knowledge and the team took on this challenge with eagerness and a smile. One staff member even tried using the internet for the first time!
Certificates are hanging proudly in the snug waiting to be collected.
Well done everyone!
Oh & as you can see in the picture we have added a new suggestion box :)
We have been busy at Head Office thinking about how we can support our staff to access training and support better. We are proud to show you our new 'Snug' and 'Staff Resource Library' which are on the ground floor at Head Office. This area can be used at any time by staff to:
Meet with a manager or senior
Meet with other staff to chat and reflect
Meet with NVQ Assessors
Or just come and relax!
This week we have been thinking about ways we can improve our communication with each other and the people who use our service.
There are many reasons communication can be impaired; stroke, speech and language issues, cognition.
One difficulty can also be a language barrier, so we got creative and made these Polish flash cards to help staff and service users communicate better. We will also be developing some picture cards and communication resources for staff to drop in and get when needed.
We are currently looking at our recruitment process and how we can involve the people who use our service.
If you or your family would like to suggest any questions to be asked during interviews then get in touch, we would love to hear your thoughts. Maybe you would like to be on the interview panel?
We will be sending more information about this in our December Newsletter so watch this space!
We have been getting in the festive mood at Head office and decided it was time to put the tree up!
The team are looking forward to giving and opening their secret santa gifts which are filling up underneath the tree.
If you are passing, why not pop in and say hello!
It’s been a busy month for training at Compassionate Care!
Over at Head Office we have been running ‘React to Red’ workshops to help our care team identify and respond to the early warning signs of skin breakdown and damage. As we get older our skin can be frailer and more vulnerable to damage and infections. Our care team can help with preventing skin damage through care and also referring you to other agencies, such as; Occupational Therapy and local District Nursing Teams. Talk to your carer if you are worried about your skin.
Next month we will be focussing on Manual Handling training as well as supporting our staff undertaking level 2 & 3 Diploma’s in Health and Social Care to continue their learning and development.
We are pleased to introduce and welcome Jasmyne Sefton to the management team. Jasmyne has many years’ experience as a Social Worker and has joined the Compassionate Care Team to help drive us forward in a focussed, person-centred way as we approach 2019. If you have any suggestions, comments or compliments that you would like to share Jasmyne is keen to hear your ideas! If you would like to speak to Jasmyne, call Head Office on 01777711129 or you can email her on firstname.lastname@example.org
Naomi has been out and about this month visiting local Dementia Hub support groups in Worksop and Retford. If you are a carer for someone and would like to find out more about local support groups in your area we can provide you with information and help you complete a referral form. Ask your care worker or call Head Office on 01777711129.
